Resident of San Jose
Our loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away at 65 on May 13, 2016. Sandra Delilah Gomez was born on 2/22/1951 in Denver, Colorado. Her parents, Fred and Alicia Garcia moved to the East Bay in 1955 where she attended primary schools. In 1966, she moved to Greeley, Colorado where she graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1969. While attending Aims College, she met Lee Gomez, who she would later marry.
Married for 45 years and the mother to Ross, Lisa and Nichole, they lived in San Jose until 1979 when they moved to Morgan Hill. She worked for the Morgan Hill Police department as the city's Community Relations Officer reporting to the Chief of Police, where she was instrumental in founding the Morgan Hill Community Law Enforcement Foundation. In 2002, she became a Realtor for Alain Pinel Realtors and a property manager for the Central Coast Baptist Association. Sandra loved to volunteer her time and gave back to the community through the church and the Lions Club. In 2009, she became the Office Manager for her husband's insurance agency, where she worked until being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2015.
She is survived by her husband, son, Ross Gomez, daughters Lisa Legarda and Nichole Gomez, and the joys of her life, her 4 grandsons, Andrew, Eric, and Dylan Legarda and Desmond Corriea. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Mark Garcia. She will always be remembered for her take charge attitude, her artistic talents and her willingness to plan and help out with any family or community event.
A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral of Faith Chapel on June 3 at 11:00 am in San Jose and she requested that any donations be made to the Morgan Hill Lion's Club.
