Mrs. Alice Kovacs Timko, 89, of New Brunswick died Tuesday at Parker at McCarrick Care Center, Somerset. A lifelong resident of New Brunswick, Mrs. Timko moved to Somerset six years ago. Predominantly a homemaker, Alice worked for several years ads a kitchen designer for American Kitchen, Inc. in New Brunswick. Mrs. Timko was totally absorbed by the needs of her immediate and extended families, whether it was watching the children or someone's grandchild, cooking for others or repairing their clothes, she was always there for everyone. As busy as she was, Alice found time to devote herself to her church, the Magyar Reformed Church on Somerset Street; and work for the New Brunswick Democratic Organization. She enjoyed playing Bingo and the piano as well as well as crocheting and sewing. Alice was a member of the Order of the Redmen-Pocohantas Lodge. Daughter of the late Charles and Julia (Bessenyei) Kovacs, Alice was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank in 1961; her daughter, Karen in 1973, her brother, Ernie Kovacs and her sisters Irene and Grayce Kovacs.

Surviving are her sons and their spouses, Frank and Janice Timko, of Largo, FL, Tom and Iris Timko, of Jackson, NJ, her daughter and son-in-law, Alice Timko and John Prindaville, her three grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan and Polly Timko, Stacey and William Hurd, Max Timko and his fiancée Angela Lucas and her three great grandchildren, John and Thomas Timko and Jordyn Hurd.

Friends and relatives may gather on Friday morning October 21st from 9 am-11 am in the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick to look back on and celebrate her long life. A memorial service will be held at 11 am. Her cremated remains will be interred in the Elmwood Cemetery, New Brunswick immediately following the service.
