Arthur Henry Arionus, passed away on Nov. 9, 2014 in Vancouver, WA. He was born to John H. Arionus and Ida Martins-Arionus on Feb. 25, 1920 in Cottonwood, MN.
As a young man, Art worked in the gold mine in Lead, SD. In the early 40's, he moved to Vancouver, WA to work in the shipyards, then to the Vancouver Housing Authority, Smith Bros. Rock Quarry, and later retired from Willamette Western.
Art was a very kind, honest, and respected man who was loved dearly by his family and friends.
He enjoyed the simple things in life: fishing, hunting, gardening, water skiing, travel trailer road trips, and dancing to country music were favorites.
Art was a member of AGC-International Union of Operating Engineers Local 701 since 1958. He was also a long-time member of the Moose Lodge, Vancouver Chapter.
Art is survived by daughters, Gail Miller (Fred) and Linda Wood (Dave); grandchildren, Monica Pope-Smith, Tom A. Miller, Malinda Miller-Beach and Ryan D. Pope; great-grandchildren, Kiplee Ross, Michael Miller, Jerrin, Hayden and Warren Pope and Lucas Miller; and great-great-granddaughter, Kimber Ross.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Gruber-Arionus in 2004; his parents; and brothers, William, Johnny, Merle, Donald and Eugene.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service for Art on Sat., Nov. 29, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Chapel, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98684/hospitality refreshments to follow.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity of choice.
