A funeral will begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel for John Arionus Jr., who died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, in Vancouver. He was 78.

Mr. Arionus was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Cottonwood, S.D., and lived in Vancouver since 1952.

He was a carpenter and contractor in the Vancouver area.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Delores, at home; three sons, Richard and Terry, both of Vancouver, and Jeffery of Bloomington, Ind.; three brothers, William of Battle Ground and Art and Don, both of Vancouver; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Arionus was a member of the American Legion and the Carpenters Union, both in Vancouver, and the Battle Ground Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, yard work and the Portland Trail Blazers.

There will be a private burial
