Professional Boxer. Born in London, England, he was a pioneer lightweight boxer nicknamed "Dutch Sam" and credited as the inventor of the uppercut punch. Known as the hardest hitter of his era, he fought bare-fisted in over a 100 organized, losing only twice from (1801-14). He died in London, England, is a member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1997.
