Heart Attack Fatal To Pete Barnes, Churchland

R. M. (Pete) Barnes, age 64, retired farmer and resident of R. 5, Lexington, the Churchland Community, was found dead at his home at 6 a.m. today after suffering a heart attack.

He was born in Davidson County, July 25, 1904, to Charlie Henderson and Loutitia Young Barnes.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Veigh Grubb Barnes of the home; three sons, Henderson Barnes of the home, Billy Dean Barnes of R. 5, Lexington, and Richard Barnes of R. 2, Apex; two daughters, Mrs. Bill Ward of Charlotte and Mrs. Tommy Spach of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Glenn Barnes and Elmo Barnes, both of R. 5, Lexington; three sisters, Mrs. Viola McBride, Mrs. Willis Grubb, and Mrs. Boyd Parnell, all of R. 5, Lexington; and 6 grandchildren.

Funeral service for R. M. (Pete) Barnes, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Churchland Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Dale Martin and Rev. Gilmer Beck.

The body will lie in state in the church from 2 until 2:30. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Davidson Funeral Home where the family will see friends from 7 to 9 o'clock Tuesday night.
