A. H. Small, Prominent Farmer, Dies
Arthur Harold Small, 67, a native of the Flathead, died at his home at 625 Seventh Ave. East in Kalispell Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Small was born on a ranch north of Creston Aug. 10, 1893, a son of Milton T. and Harriet Stuart Small. He received his elementary education and grew to manhood here. For three years he attended the University of Minnesota at St. Paul. On Nov. 22, 1922, he was married to Therma McGlaughlin in Kalispell.
They have lived here continuously. He farmed extensively in the Creston area all his life and specialized in growing potatoes. In more recent years, due to ill health he has not been active in farming but the work that he started was carried on by his children under the firm name of A. H. Small & Sons.
He was a member of Kalispell Lodge No. 42 AF&AM, a past high priest of Kalispell Chapter No. 13 RAM, a member of Flathead Council No. 15 R&SM, and a Past Commander of Cyrene Commandery No. 10 KT, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in Missoula and Algeria Temple of the Shrine.
He was a past patron of Adah Chapter No. 17 Order of the Eastern Star and was a past grand patron of the Grand Chapter O.E.S. of Montana.
He was a member of Kalispell Elk Lodge No. 725 of Kalispell. He had been a member of the Presbyterian Church of Kalispell for many years. He is survived by his wife, Therma, in Kalispell; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Yaeger of Creston; two sons, J. Milton and A. Harold, both of Creston; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Cecil J. Small in Fresno, Calif.
The body is at the Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted in the First Presbyterian Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
