HARRIET R. SMALL PASSES AWAY
Harriet R. Small, wife of M.T. Small of Creston passed away at the home at one o’clock this afternoon, at the age of 53 years. Mr. and Mrs. Small have been residents of the Flathead for 40 years.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Small is survived by her mother, Nancy J. Stuart of Creston, and two sons, Arthur H. of Creston and Cecil J. of Fresno, California; and by two brothers, W.J. Stuart of Columbia Falls and W.W. Stuart of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and three sisters, Mrs. Denny Sullivan of Innisfall, Alberta; Mrs. M.A. Pattison of Seattle, Washington and Mrs. Anna L. Skyles of Whitefish.
Mrs. Harriet R. Small was born at Mining City, Tennessee on March 1, 1871 and passed away at her home in Fairview on November 4, 1924 at the age of 53 years and eight months. She was the second of six children born to Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Stuart. When she was eleven years old, the family moved to Leadville, Colorado and in the fall of 1884 they again moved, this time to Butte, Montana, from which place the family made their last and permanent move westward, settling among the early pioneers in the Flathead Valley on September 11, 1886.
On October 12, 1891, she was united in marriage to Milton T. Small to which union two children were born, Arthur H. of Fairview and Cecil J. of Fresno, California. She was a faithful wife and mother, a woman whose high ideals and thoughtfulness of others have made her loved and respected throughout the community in which she lived. Her greatest pleasure was found in caring for others. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge at Kalispell, the Helping Hand Society of Creston, and a charter member of the Brotherhood of American Yeoman of Fairview.
Those whom she leaves to mourn her loss are: her husband, Milton T. Small and their sons, Arthur and Cecil, grandson John Milton, her mother, Mrs. Nancy J. Stuart of Fairview, three sisters, Mrs. D. Sullivan of Innisfall, Alberta; Mrs. Anna L. Skyles of Whitefish, and Mrs. M.L. Pattison of Seattle, Washington; and two brothers W.J. Stuart of Fairview and W.W. Stuart of Albert Lea, Minnesota.
