Mrs. Sophia Laster, 99, McLouth, died Sept. 18, 1990, at Cherokee Lodge Adult Care Center, Oskaloosa. She was born May 17, 1891, in Wisconsin, and moved to McLouth in the early 1900s.

Mrs. Laster was a member of First Baptist Church, William Kesinger Unit No. 393 of the American Legion Auxiliary, and Alcione Chapter No. 266 of Order of Eastern Star, all at McLouth.

She was married to Jesse Laster July 17, 1911, at Oskaloosa. His whereabouts are unknown to relatives. They were not divorced.

Five children, Alvin Laster, Clarence Laster, Pauline Laster, Donald Laster, and August Laster preceded her in death.

Survivors include 2 brothers, Tom Lombard, McAllen, Texas, and Floyd Lombard, Topeka; 3 sisters, Bertha Lombard Beguelin, Lawrence, Irene Lombard Moorman, Panama City, Fla., and Anna Lombard Griggs, Yucaipa, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Roger Laster, Portland, Ore., George Laster, Wellsville, Fred Laster, Richmond, Vickie Laster, Kathy Laster, Randy Laster and Dewayne Laster, all in California, and Arnold Linaweaver, Lansing; 26 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 22 at First Baptist Church, McLouth. Burial was in McLouth Cemetery. Hampton-Barrett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, was in charge of arrangements.
