Blandena Hellmann
Born 1853 Golden Grove, South Australia
Died 27 May 1931 Sister Berry's private hospital, Kadina, South Australia

Blandena was born to Carolina Katherina Sophie Hellmann (nee Westphal) after the death of Carolina's husband but was raised by Alfred & Sophia (nee Westphal) Couzner, her Aunt & Uncle.

Married John Reid on the 15 Jan 1874 at the residence of Alfred Couzner, Greens Plains, South Australia.

LATE MRS B. REID.
The death on Wednesday, May 27th, of Mrs. Blandena Reid, Sister Berry's private hospital, Kadina, at the age of 78 years, removes another link from the chain of old identities who blazed the trail and pioneered the district known as Green's Plains, writes our local correspondent.
Born at Golden Grove, she arrived on the Plains with the late respected Mr. and Mrs. Alfred. Couzner, who were her uncle and aunt.
In about 1873 she made the acquaintance of Mr. John Reid, to whom later she was married. The late Mr. Reid was a large landowner in the neighborhood, a man who took a keen interest in all matters concerning the welfare of the district in which he lived.
He and the late Messrs. Ford and J. Day, comprised the personnel of the first Land Board which was appointed by the Government of the day to review the agreements held by leaseholders of land within the district.
Mr. John Reid died in 1896, after which Mrs. Reid, with the assistance of her son (Albert) carried on, but when in 1927 he too was "called home," the shock caused by his demise, and advancing years, induced Mrs. Reid to accept the invitation of Mr. John Henry Bussenschutt, of "Claremont Farm'' (son-in-law) to make her future home there with those to whom she was near and dear. Here she remained until a few weeks prior to the end.
The deceased lady was a devout adherent of the Methodist connexion, and a constant attendant at the Paskeville church, where her cheery presence will be missed. Mrs. Reid was one of the foundation members of the church.
Her kindly disposition was such as to cause a friend of many years to remark "that never was any one heard to say ought of the deceased that was not kind".
The family consisted of two sons and two daughters, of whom Mrs Annie May Bussenshutt only survives.
The long line of cars with their occupants forming the procession to her last resting place in the pretty sylvan grounds of the Greens Plains Cemetery, where
her remains were laid beside those of her husband, was evidence of respect in which she was held.
The Rev. F. W . Brasher performed the last rites, and Mr. G. R. Haddy, of Kadina conducted the funeral arrangements.
