OBITUARY

There passed away at her residence, "Berlington," Gummies' Bush, on June 30th, a highly respected lady in the person of Mrs Murdock McRae, late of Hokonui. The deceased lady was a native of County Galway, Ireland, which place she left in the year 1880, arriving at Lyttelton during that year. In the year 1882 she was married to Mr Murdock McRae, and resided at Hokonui until about four years ago, when they changed their residence to Gummies' Bush. The late McRae, who is a sister of Messrs John and Alex. McDonald, of Hokonui, leaves three daughters and two sons, all grown up, to mourn their loss. Deceased was buried at the Winton Cemetery on Tuesday last. On nearing Winton the funeral was joined by large number of deceased's friends in that district. The ceremony at the grave was a most impressive one, and was conducted by the Rev. Father O'Neill.
