Catherine "Katie" Ptaschek, 92, Ellis, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.
She was born Oct. 26, 1917, in Ellis County to George and Rosa (Becker) Lang.
She married Nathaniel Ptaschek on June 9, 1936, in Ellis.
He preceded her in death June 4, 1986. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church & Daughters of Isabella, both of Ellis.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Ptaschek and wife, Lorrie, Keller, Texas, and children, Cindy, Dwayne and Lesa, and Larry Ptaschek and wife, Marge, Roanoke, Va., and children, Kris, Kathy and Karen; a daughter, Karen Ashbaugh and husband, Dwayne, Westminister, Colo., and children, Kelly and Denise; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Tauscher, Anna Bongartz, Elizabeth Younker, Josie Ptaschek and Ella Roberts; a brother, Pete Lang, and a grandson, Kirk Douglas Ashbaugh.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, both at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis. A Daughters of Isabella rosary service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital or Meadowlark Place at Ellis Good Samaritan Center in care of the funeral home.
