ATHENS

Funeral service for Marie Taylor, age 89, of Athens, Alabama, formerly of Decatur, will be today, Oct. 10, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Carl Maynard officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Taylor died Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Athens Health Care and Rehab. She was born to Edward Parker and Clara Shaneyfelt Parker in Limestone County. She was a nurse, and after retirement was a nanny to several children, and a member of Oak Park Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Taylor; and her parents, Edward and Clara Parker; brothers, Floyd, Elmer, Everett, and William Parker; sisters, Thelma Ferguson and Della Bauer.

She is survived by a special niece, Reba Sims, of Tanner, Alabama; great- nephew, Ronnie Sims, and also other nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Steve Sims, Namen Parker, Ricky Roberts, Wayne White, Eugene Ferguson, and Roy Kitchens.
