Mrs. Bruce Riley of Mt. Vernon, and L. A. Draper of Peru, Iowa, arrived here last Friday morning, from Peru, with the remains of their father, who died at the home of L. A. Draper. Mr. Draper was laid to rest in Glenwood cemetery here, beside his wife and daughter. He lived to be ninety years of age although he has been an invalid for the past several years. Mr. Draper made his home here with his daughter, Mrs. Riley, for a number of years when the Riley family were residents of Goldfield.

C. C. Draper was born at Whitehall, N.Y., June 25, 1830 and died at Peru, Iowa, Jan. 4, 1921, age 90 years, 6 months, 10 days.

At the age of four years he came with his parents to Hudson, Ohio. In the year of 1852 he came to Rockford, Ill., where he spent a part of his early life. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Prentiss of Roscoe, Ill., Dec. 1, 1853. To this union were born six children, four boys and two girls, all of whom are living, except Alice S., who died July 8, 1910.

Those still living are: Mrs. Bruce Riley of Mount Vernon; E. N. and C. A. Draper of Waterloo; H. B. Draper of Cedar Falls and L. A. Draper of Peru.

In the year 1864, he came with his family to Lamont, Iowa, where the greater part of his life was spent. He was converted in early manhood and united with the church of his choice to whose cause he ever remained faithful.

His companion passed away Feb. 10, 1917. For several years past he has made his home with his son, L. A. Draper of Peru. He leaves to mourn his death, five children, 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon, Jan. 6th. Rev. Shannon having charge of the service. Burial was at Glenwood cemetery, Goldfield, Iowa, on Friday.
