Rev. Samuel Watkins, Jr. was the son of Samuel Watkins, Sr,and Elizabeth (unknown). He married Charity (unknown) about 1808 in Richland Co., SC and they were the parents of six children: William, Zachariah, Samuel, Ervin, Epsey and George Washington Watkins. He migrated from Richland Co., SC to Muscogee Co., GA about 1833. He was an early pastor of the New Providence Freewill Baptist Church. The dates for Samuel and Charity were accidently reversed on the tombstone.
