Mr. George Foley, 71, of Cannon, passed away Tuesday evening, October 4, 2016 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was a son of the late George Otis and Dorothy Mills Foley born on December 4, 1944 at Gray.

George was a former disc jockey with WYWY and WRIL radio stations and of the Baptist faith. He could often be found drinking coffee at McDonald’s with his friends and enjoyed horse racing and was an avid UK fan. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army.

On June 18, 1994, he united in marriage with Abby Bays.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Oliver Jackson.

Survivors include his loving wife, Abby Foley of Cannon; six children, Cora Foley of Cannon, Jonie Smith and husband, Lucas, of Bimble, Jamie Bays and fiancé, Natasha, of Flat Lick, George Foley Jr. and wife, April, of Greenville, NC, Michelle Foley of Corbin and Melissa Jibemia Foley and fiancé, Roy, of Corbin; a brother, Spencer Foley and wife, Pat, of Corbin; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, October 10 at 2 P.M. with Rev. David Mounce and Rev. Joe Jones officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Lynn Camp Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jamie Bays, Lucas Smith, Robin Bays, Jerry Hobbs, Steven Bays, Terrell Bays, Derrick Broughton and Willis Smith. Honorary bearers will be Dr. Cooney and Dr. Krishna.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Monday prior to the funeral hour.
