Son of William NEALE and Sarah TOWNSEND (they both arrived in 1794 on the convict transport "Surprize" but were not formally married until 1810), and brother of William James NEALE (born at Parramatta, 20 November 1799), Sarah Matilda NEALE (born 1801; married William PIPER), George Roddle NEALE (born 1804), and Mary Ann NEALE (born 1811).
John was at Liverpool, 1817, 1823-24; Overseer to Captain BROOK at Denham Court, Lower Minto, 1827; Farmer at Mountpleasant, County Murray, 1832-33; Butcher in Sydney, 1840-43; at Berrima, 1855-59; later lived at Macquarie Street, Parramatta, where he died.
John was married firstly, in 1816, to Sarah NICKELSON or NICHOLSON; she died at Berrima in 1829.
John, of Berrimah, was married secondly, at Redfern, to Anna Maria WILLIAMS, widow of the late Octavius John BREDAN of London; she died at Macquarie Street, Parramatta, on 14 January 1863, aged 46.
John and Sarah had issue:
1. Elizabeth NEALE, born Liverpool, 1817; died 18 April 1855; married firstly, Roger STEERE, with issue one daughter; Elizabeth married secondly, John PARKER, with further issue.
