the first sheriff of Rockland County was Jacob Wood, appointed March 21, 1798.
not sure if the dates are correct. there is conflicting info online... 1817 1827
he was possibly interred in Tappan NY.

possibly was interred at New City cemetery, by the town hall,
suggested by a distant relative. as noted:
Barbara Wood: "He's buried in the cemetery diagonally across Congers Rd. from the fire house, and across Congers Rd. from the Clarkstown Town Hall."
