In 1894 he was graduated from the City University of New York with an LLB. He was first admitted to the Maryland bar in 1894 and to the New York bar a few months later. He became a senior member in the law firm, Roberts & Hepburn, located at 63 Wall St. in New York City. He lived in New York City and never married.
