His North Carolina Death Certificate [North Carolina Deaths, 1906-1930, at Family Search.org] shows he on 26 Feb 1924 in Charlotte, NC, age 51. It does not show his date of birth nor his birthplace in NC. Informant listed as H. P. Harding of Charlotte, NC.
Speculation: the informant possibly was his cousin, Henry (aka Harry) Patrick Harding, the Superintendent of Charlotte Schools, who also lived in Charlotte at that time.
