Rose Hay Huffman was born April 2, 1932 in Fort Worth, TX and reared in the Smithfield community; the daughter of Taz D. Hay and Ura Prather Hay.
Rose was proceeded in death by son Glenn W. Huffman Jr., brother John Hay, and sister Sybil Guinn, and brother Jerry Hay. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Glenn Huffman Sr., son James Steven Huffman and wife Gwen, Jon David Huffman and wife Pat, and four greatest grandsons, Jubal, Jessie and wife Quinta, Jacob, and Jeremy, and great grandson Steven, and loving caring nurses Beverly Cotton and Mary Rockson who have become a part of the family.
Following the graduation from Amon Carter high school in Fort Worth, she attended Arlington State College and graduated from University of North Texas with a BA degree in education. She taught in Dallas, Houston, and Irving, Texas. Rose remained very supportive and helpful in the sons school activities, and Glenn's employment activities with Exxon.
For many years Rose was a very active member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, Exxon Mobil Annuitant Club, PEO, and other community activities.
She was an excellent cook and liked to entertain for family gatherings, especially during Christmas and other holidays.
A Visitation and viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be at the Funeral Home on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 12:00 noon.
