Evelyn E. Bowman age 97, formerly of Nekoosa, passed away Wednesday. September 28, 2016 at Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. Rev. William Menzel will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa. A visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home of Nekoosa is assisting the family. Evelyn was born July 18, 1919 in Pittsville to Frank and Luella (Otto) Haumschild. She married John Bowman at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Pittsville on April 3, 1937. He died December 24, 2002. Evelyn was employed at Preway during World War II, Montgomery Wards from 1959 until 1972, Germann's Jewelry Store from 1973 until 1978 and the Wood County Health Dept. from 1979 until her retirement in 1994.

Evelyn was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved gardening, her flowers, canning, and making quilts for her children. Her passion in life was her family.

She is survived by her children, Betty (James) Pearson of Wisconsin Rapids, Patti (Robert) Neitman of Mountain Home, AR, Jackie Brod of Wisconsin Rapids, Carleen (Tim) Kriz of Wisconsin Rapids, John (Bev) Bowman and James "Jim" (Candy) Bowman both of Nekoosa; her grandchildren, Jody (Tim) Egland, Mary Beth (Tim) Gildenzoph, Sherri (Shawn) Murray, David (Dawn) Pearson, Mark (Tina) Pearson, Christopher Leffler, Eric (Terri) Neitman, Matt Neitman, Tracy Vanderpool, Jennifer (Ron) Leach, John C. Bowman, Chet Bowman, Christopher (Hannah) Bowman, and Rebecca (Leo) Kuck; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Carl F. Haumschild, her husband, John M. Bowman, daughter, Janice Bowman-Leffler, one granddaughter, Vicki Pearson, and one grandson, Curtis Leffler.

The Bowman family would like to thank Aspirus Comfort Care especially Beth, Donna, and Shayna for their great care of Evelyn and their friendship.
