She was a seventh generation Floridian and a resident of Gainesville, FL. for 58 years. Mrs. Hury was born September 10, 1926 in Jacksonville, FL. She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and the Florida State College for Women. She was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority and former president of the Gainesville Junior League. Her greatest accomplishments were her marriage of 60 years to her adoring husband and creating a loving home for her children and grand children.
She was the embodiment of a true Southern Lady. She was preceded in death by her parents and her five siblings. She is survived by loving husband, Leo Hury, her son Thomas (Barbara) Hury, daughters Kay (Russ) McCallister and Julie (Curt) Cunkle, grandchildren Austin, Katie, and Parker Gresham, Mallory McCallister, Austin, Will, and Lindsey Cunkle, plus four nieces and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday July 6, 2009 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 100 NE 1st Street Gainesville, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Ronald McDonald House, 1600 SW 14th Street Gainesville, FL. 32608.
