Janice was born September 13, 1935 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Ralph Merkley and Olive Bergeson. She lived her lifetime in Blackfoot, graduating from Blackfoot High School. She then continued her education at Idaho State University in nursing. She also trained in Social Work.
On March 21, 1958 she married Bud Jensen in Blackfoot, Idaho.
She worked at Bingham Memorial Hospital, Harms Hospital and Lost River Medical Center. She also worked in Fort Hall in the Rehabilitation and Addiction Center. In her free time she enjoyed camping and fishing.
Janice is survived by her husband, Bud Jensen of Blackfoot; children, Vicki (Doug) Hendricks or Moore, Idaho, Kenny (Denise) Jensen of Blackfoot, Idaho and Karen F. Jensen of Blackfoot, Idaho; brother, Dean (Kathy) Merkley of San Jose, California; five grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Blaine Merkley; sister, Carol Lambert; and three great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Grove City Cemetery. In case of inclement weather, these services will be held at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho.
