On July 5, 1941, she married Herbert Glen Tate who grew up on the adjourning farm and they were happily married for over fifty years.
She was employed in the office of the circuit clerk for four years and with the Fort Payne Housing Authority for twenty-five years.
Following her retirement, she was appointed to the Board of Commissioners of the housing authority and later served as Chairwoman of the Board.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Payne and active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Dekalb County Democrat Ladies organization.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert, her parents, and ten siblings.
She is survived by her son Patrick H. Tate (Karen) of Fort Payne, her daughter Sarah Glenn Haase (John) of Alabaster, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends between 4 and 7 p.m. Tuesday night and the funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery. Dr. Pat McFadden and Rev. Walter Turner will officiate.
