Rose Widner Piazzo was born on February 27, 1897 in Delphi (Carroll County) Indiana; the daughter of William Widner and Nettie Thompson Widner. She grew up in Deer Creek and the Delphi, Indiana area in rural Indiana with a father who was a butcher by trade but also a lively fiddle player/barn dance caller; her childhood was busy with a big family that included four sisters: Mable M. Widner Fife; G. Nellie Widner Otte; Jennie Widner Mendenhall; Mary 'Mollie' Widner Barton; and four brothers: Johnnie who died at birth, William Widner, Jr. James Widner, and Jesse Widner. She was married on October 25, 1913 to Harry Everett Clark; to this union, her only son, Harry E. Clark, was born in 1917. She married Evens Beeler Staton in Marion, Indiana on June 6, 1936. Her third husband was Frank J. Piazza, and she resided in California with him. Her last years were spent in Zephyrhills, Florida where she retired to be near her son. She died on December 11, 1983 in Dade City, Pasco County, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, and her son in 1982. She was survived by one sibling, Jesse Widner; her daughter-in-law, Edythe Hastings Smith Clark; and five grandchildren: Harry Clark, Sally Jeanne Clark Suding, William David Clark, Thomas Clark, and Allan Clark; and several great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
