William Stork Fletemeyer, 78, died at 8:30 PM Friday [Feb. 21, 1992] in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. Born Sept. 26, 1913, in Lafayette, he was a lifelong resident. He and Marjorie Jean Johnson were married on Sept. 28, 1935, at Danville, IL; she survives.

Mr. Fletemeyer had served as manager of the Purdue University Airport and directed its physical expansion and commercial development. Early in his career, he worked with the Purdue residence hall system, later serving as the first manager of Married Student Housing.

In 1960, Mr. Fletemeyer assumed management of the Purdue Airport. He retired from Purdue in 1980 and was awarded the title of director emertisu of the Purdue board of trustees for his service to the university. He earned the title of profession accredited airport executive from the American Association of Airport Executives in 1963. He also served as director of the economic officers committee of the Airport Operations Council International.

Mr. Fletemeyer was a member and former director of the Aviation Association of Indiana and was named Indiana Aviation Man of the Year in 1971 by that organization. He also served as director of Air Wisconsin Airlines during the period of its expansion from a regional airline to a national airline. He also served as director of timing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a number of years. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Surviving with his wife are a son, John R. Fletemerer of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and a brother, Thomas Fletemeyer of Madison, WI.
