Susan was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on October 23, 1946, to the late David Randolph and Alice Baucum James. A life-long music enthusiast, Susan participated in Choir and Ensemble at Barton Junior High followed by Oratorio Singers and Accordionettes at El Dorado High. She then graduated from Louisiana Tech with a degree in home economics, where she was a Kappa Delta. After earning her master’s degree, she worked as a registered clinical dietitian for over 25 years. A member of Shreveport Community Church, she annually performed in Songs of the Season, and she was dedicated to attending her weekly Bible study with her close friends. Susan had a passion and God-given talent for singing. More than anything, she adored her four grandchildren and loved making lasting memories with family and friends at her camp on Lake Darbonne.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her two brothers David Randolph “D. R.” James, Jr., and Mark Evan James; and her granddaughter Faith Elizabeth Andrews.
Survivors include her son David Louis Christian; daughter Allison Christian Andrews and husband Charlie; grandchildren Maggie Elizabeth Andrews, Sarah Christian Andrews, James Patrick Christian, and Matthew Coleman Christian; sister Mary Dell Wren; Louis and Faye Christian; and many cherished family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 26, from 2-4PM, with services immediately following at 4PM, in the Chapel of Osborn Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, at 11AM, at Arlington Memorial Park in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be James Christian, Andy Osborn, Todd Jones, Chris James, Charlie Andrews, and George “Buddy” Tolbert.
Susan will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched throughout her faithful, honorable life.
