Mark E. James, 66, of El Dorado, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born March 10, 1950, to David Randolph James Sr. and Alice Baucum James in El Dorado.

He worked in hotel management, and held a master degree in accounting. Mark was of the Assembly of God faith and was a member of the El Dorado Kiwanis Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, David Randolph James Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life of 31 years, June Gibson James of El Dorado; four children, Christopher James (Tabatha) of Lone Tree, Colo., Scott Gudith of Little Rock, Elizabeth James of Little Rock, Laci Knowles (Danny) of Denver; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Dell Wren and Susan J. Christian.

Mark was one of the last true gentlemen. He was compassionate, sweet spirited, and kind. He put his God and family first, and grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Mark also owned Mark’s Catering and was legendary for his cooking and catering large events. He was the first manager of the SAAC Lunch, founded to support the South Arkansas Arts Center in El Dorado.

He was a true crappie and bream fisherman. Mark would take the old blue boat with all four children and they would fish wherever there was water.

Mark found our Lord and Savior in truth and commitment in 1990. He found a new strength and reality of life for the first time. The Rock of all Ages became a fact to him.

The hole in our family will be large indeed. There was only one Mark Evan James and his absence will be keenly felt. A faithful and loving husband, a protective and guiding dad, the miss is already there. You were so loved Mark.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Young’s Chapel with the Rev. Chris Cleveland and the Rev. Charles Jacobs officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. until service time.

Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
