Johnnie B. Ballew, age 80, of Rison went to be with his Lord Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

Mr. Ballew was born February 15, 1936 in Jefferson County, a son of Johnie Ballew and Beatrice Browning Ballew.

He was married for fifty-five years to Sue Spakes Ballew.

Mr. Ballew served twenty years in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, retiring at the rank of E-7. During those twenty years he did tours in Japan, Korea, Turkey and Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorthy Hollis, Louise Wingard, Syble Johnston and brother, Clifton Ballew.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Spakes Ballew of Rison; sons, Michael Shane Ballew of Rowell, Dusty Ballew of Little Rock; brothers, Calvin Ballew of Rose Bud, Jimmy Ballew of Glendale; sisters, Pamela McMurtery of Pine Bluff, Thelma Webb of Star City and a host of nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 26, 2016 at Rowell Cemetery near Rison with Brother Thomas Lanthrip officiating.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison.

Pallbearers are Chad Ballew, Jimmy Ballew Jr., Calvin Ballew, Tim Cole, David Cole and Dusty Ballew.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home in Rison
