William Arnold
William Homer Arnold, 74, of Gladwin, died Friday at Clare Osteopathic Hospital after a short illness.
Born Sept. 3, 1901 at Bates, he was the son of George and Gertrude Arnold. In 1964 he married Hazel Croton of Lansing, who survives.
After moving to Lansing in 1924, he joined the Lansing Fire Department, where he served for 27 years, and was promoted to Captain. After his retirement, he was employed at Paul Automotive Co. in Lansing for 22 years.
Preceding him death were his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Surviving are his wife Hazel: a stepson, Robert Croton of Mt. Pleasant: two brothers, Howard of Traverse City and Gaylord of Bates: two sisters. Mrs. Frank (Clara) Brothwell of Traverse City; Mrs. Roy (Marie) Zick of Ionia: four step-grandchildren: two step-great grandchildren: and several nieces; and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Martinson-Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City and interment will be at the Acme Cemetery.
