Sadie was born to James Robert Bonning and Sarah "Sadie" Mohr Bonning and was a favorite Aunt amongst the children of her siblings. She would dress up and clown around for them in San Juan. She married Daniel Nahmens and they had four children who survived to adulthood. A stillborn child and an infant daughter Ione are buried in plot 179 of the Union Cemetery. Her four surviving children were Daniel, Ruby, Robert and Gertrude. She died from Scarlet fever.
