Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home in Streator.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be, Eric Capko, Scott Pedelty, Eric Bressner, Chris Andree and Randy Schmitt. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Born August 21, 1925 in Streator he was the son of John and Anna (Micklos) Capko. He married Marion Irene Pfalzgraf on April 3, 1948 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2002.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth (Nancy) Capko of Streator; grandchildren, Eric (Julie Rowell) Capko of Baltimore, Maryland and Sarah (Jeremy) Goeden of Killingworth, Connecticut; grandchildren, Emmerson Goeden, Alex Goeden and Jocelyn Goeden all of Killingworth, Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Mary Moye and Florence Capko; brothers, Andrew and Edward Capko.
Born and raised in Streator he attended local grade schools and Streator High School.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He worked for Lorentzen Brothers Tile for many years. He later owned and operated Westgate Liquor’s for 40 years.
He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Streator Elk’s Club. He also was a member of the Illinois Liquor’s Association.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
