He was a son of the late William Ray and Mary Annie Hope Helton and is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Gravil Helton. He was of the Baptist faith, a custodian and an Army veteran.
His survivors include his daughter, Tina Helton Hays; granddaughter, Heather Ann
Griffin; two brothers, Lance Helton and Billy Joe Helton; three sisters, Margaret Joan Robertson, Marilyn Jean Wingfield, and Connie Sue Belcher; several nieces and nephews.
