He enlisted in the Civil War and service with the 18 Battery, IND. Light Artillery, Eli Lillie, Capt. on Aug 2, 1862. He served as wagon master, went with Sherman to the sea, and although never wounded, suffered from the effects of war for the remainder of his life.
