Son of David and Rhoda Mullin Settle. Husband of Henrietta W. Graves Settle.

He was born in 1789 per the Heritage book, page 553.
He was in the N.C. House of Commons in 1816.
He was in the U.S. Congress from 1817-1821.
In 1832 he was elected a Superior Court Judge.
He gave each of his children a plantation on the Dan River.
The Governor Reid plantation to his daughter, Henrietta.
The Mulberry Island plantation to Thomas, Jr.
The Eagle Falls plantation to Mary.
When Thomas, Sr. died he was a Trustee of Wake Forest College.
