Wade Williams, 91, of Indianola died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 17, 2016) in the palliative care unit of the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville.

He was born on Oct. 26, 1924 in Indianola, the son of Claude and Hallie Goodwin Williams. He married Amber Mosier on Aug. 6, 1948 in Danville. She preceded him in death on July 2, 1987.

Survivors include one son, James Williams; three daughters, Debra (Oliver) Yates, Sonna Shook and Jacqueline (Lee) Baird and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Wade was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star.

He owned a garage in Indianola with his brother, Dale Williams called Williams Garage. He retired from the U.S. Postal service where he was a rural mail carrier for 29 years. Wade then worked for the Carroll Township Highway Department for 16 years. He was a 60-year Mason and was an avid fisherman.
