Roy H. Melton
Roy H. Melton, 68, 56 Campbell, died at 3 a.m. Sunday in Porter Memorial hospital after an illness of two months.
Born in Andersonville, Tenn., Sept. 1, 1898 he was the son of Howard and Ellen (Swarner) Melton. On July 2, 1929 in Knoxville, Tenn., he married Edna Thomas, who survives.
In Spetember 1963, Melton retired from his position at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube company, where he was employed for 27 years.
Surviving besides the widow are six daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Elsie) Scott, Baudatte, Minn., Mrs. Kenneth (Naomi) Homan, Hobart, Mrs. Larry (Barbara) Bechler, San Pierre, Mrs. Ed (Dorothy) Kielpikowski, Mrs. Ren (Doris) Spencer and Mrs. Roy (Marjorie) Barker, all of Valparaiso; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Okley, of Andersonville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Ellen, one brother and one sister.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. L. E. Meyers officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Friends may call at Wetmore Funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
