Born September 13, 1923 in Utica, NY to Denn and Ethel (Bragg) Burgess, she married Merle H. “Bud” Daman on Sept. 24, 1944 in Peoria. He died May 29, 1969 in Peoria. She later married Robert Denny “Bob” Kennedy on Aug. 24, 1985 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are six children, Robert Denn (Linda) Daman of Western Springs, Lynda Jean (Gary) Reis, Thomas M. (Gail) Daman, both of Wausau, WI, Sue Ann (Karl) Dietrich of Brimfield, John Kennedy and Suzanne (Jim) Adcock, both of Pekin; sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Sherwood Burgess.
A 1941 graduate of Peoria High School, Jean also attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville.
Jean worked for twenty plus years at Bergner’s mainly at Sheridan Village in sales and purchasing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria. She also was a member of the Peoria High Alumni Association.
Her family will remember her as a classy lady who loved life in all ways. Jean was very family oriented and whenever she parted company and was told “love you” she always responded “love you more…”
A private family service with inurnment will be held in Springdale Mausoleum in Peoria at a later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
