KRAMER, DEBORAH VON ALMEN, 62, died peacefully Tuesday, October 11, 2011 ending a nearly 4-year struggle with cancer.

Debbie was a creative, free spirit and person of strong faith. She was an active member for many years at St. Matthews Baptist Church.

Debbie's lifetime passion and greatest gift was teaching and sharing art with others. She retired in early 2010 from a 27-year long career teaching art, executing extensive set designs, and generally spreading her bright and youthful spirit at Walden School in St. Matthews. Prior to Walden, Debbie taught at Louisville Male High School (1971-1978).

Gardening and love of nature were also joys in Debbie's life. She spent many summers out in her garden, designing landscapes, feeding birds and squirrels, and collecting images she would later put into oil paintings or hand-drawn note cards.

She was loving, faithful, gracious, and inspiring to all those around her and will be greatly missed by the friends, family, and students that were blessed to be a part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn von Almen.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Jennifer Lea.. (Steve) and Jessica Kra...; aunt, Mary Belle Est..; cousin, Charles.

Her memorial service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Ave. Memorial visitation will be 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday at Pearson's, 149 Breckinridge Lane.

Memorials or expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Matthews Baptist Church and Walden School, 4238 Westport Rd.
