George B. Glade, 64, 1226 10th East, president and general manager of Glade Candy Co. and church leader, died of a heart ailment Sunday at 1:18 p.m. in a Salt Lake hospital.
A native of Park City, Mr. Glade had served in various executive capacities with the candy firm for 41 years, joining the company in 1922. He had been president and general manager since 1953.
Mr. Glade was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was president of the Park LDS Stake at the time of his death.
He also had served as first bishop of the Princeton LDS Ward and was chairman of the Sugar House Regional LDS Welfare Committee.
He served an LDS Mission in the Central States from 1919 to 1922.
He was a member of the Executive Club of Salt Lake City and the Intermountain Assn. of Credit Men.
Born in Park City Aug. 30, 1898, he was the son of James R. and Annie Norberg Glade. He moved with his family to Lakeview, Utah County, at the age of 12, and came to Salt Lake City in 1922.
He married Velma Nuttall, Dec. 13, 1922, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Surviving are his widow; three sons and daughters: George B. Glade Jr., K. Preston Glade, Royden J. Glade, Mrs. Dale F. (Helen) Fenton, Mrs. John W. (Kathryn) Rice, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. G. Richard (Barbara) Palmer, Ogden; and 20 grandchildren.
He also is survived by his mother, Mrs. Annie Glade Nuttall, and four brothers, Earl J. Glade, J. Vernon Glade, Eugene H. Glade, and Serge F. Glade, all Salt Lake City.
