In the record of June 19 1880 census of subdistrict 22 in Bexar County, he is listed at 4 months old and as the third child of Josefa Garcia and Miguel Gonzales.
The 1900 census then indicates 12 children born to Josefa, but only seven of those children having survived. Rita, the eldest child had already married Gabino De Leon by this time. The remaining six children were enumerated with their parents, but Leandro is not listed as one of those six children enumerated and he is not found in subsequent census.
