JUANITA I. ELAM, South Hutchinson, Kansas, USA - Juanita Irene Elam, 92, died July 22, 2006, at Mennonite Friendship Manor, South Hutchinson.
She was born April 26, 1914, in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas, USA, the daughter of James Harvey and Lula Mae Reeder Reed. A lifetime Hutchinson resident she was a homemaker.
She belonged to South Hutchinson Christian Church.
In 1930, she married George Schrader: They divorced in 1945. On February 19, 1948, she married John Elam in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas, USA. He died March 24, 1978.
Survivors include: two sons, Carl Max Scrader; Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS, USA, Jay Elam, Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Wanda Lee Britain, Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS, USA, and Nancy Joleen Busen, Rogers, Arkansas, USA; a stepson John Elam, Jr., Highland, Missouri; a stepdaughter; Dixie Lee Crow, Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS, USA; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great -grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother; Lonnie Reed and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 26, 2006, in Pennwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, rural Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS, USA, with Pastor Sam Askew presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2006,with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the "We Care about Animals" Fund, or to the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center, both in care of the funeral home.
