Dorothy was the daughter of William and Genevieve Malone Farmer. Her parents were divorced by 1940 and each remarried. Dorothy was a member of the Ajo High School class of 1955 but left school to get married to William Puffer. Their children included William, Julie and Linda Kay. Her husband William and her five year old daughter Julie Ann were killed in a trailer fire in Gila Bend, Arizona in November 1960. Dorothy later married Amado Gonzalez. Their children included Viviano Amado, Kathy (Talley) and Ruby (Valenzales/Valenzuela?)

Dorothy's parents separated and remarried. Her mother, Genevieve Malone Whitecrow died at the age of 42 on December 23, 1963 in Glendale, Arizona. Genevieve was buried at the Glendale Memorial Cemetery survived by her husband Joseph H. Whitecrow. Dorothy's father, Willie Farmer (Betty) died on July 3, 2007 and was buried in Ajo.

Dorothy's daughter Linda Kay Worsham died in a car accident in 1989. Vivano Amado Gonzalez died in November 1991. Dorothy passed away in the Northwest Hospital in Tucson in December 1991. Dorothy was known for her fine Mexican cooking. A Rosary was recited and a funeral mass was said at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial was at the Ajo Cemetery.
