Genevieve was born in Arizona on April 15, 1921 to Mabel Irene Kinzey and Ellis B Malone Sr. The Malone's had moved to Ajo in 1916 where Ellis worked for many years as a barber. At first they lived in Rowood, now a ghost town, a mile to the east of Ajo and then they lived in Gibson, on the north side of Ajo. "Jimmie" as Genevieve was known, along with her sister Ida Alice and brother Ellis Jr. attended the Ajo schools. Ida graduated from high school in 1929 and would later marry Thomas Jones. The Depression of the 1930's was hard on Ajo as the copper mine closed for two years. Ellis Jr. graduated from 8th grade in 1931 but soon left school to help out. Genevieve met and married William Farmer in 1936. "Willie", who was from McCurtain, Oklahoma moved to Ajo after the mine reopened in 1934. In February 1937 Genevieve gave birth to their daughter Dorothy Irene. Things did not work out for the young couple. The 1940 census finds "Jimmie Farmer"(divorced) and her daughter Dorothy living with her parents Ellis and Mabel Malone. Willie Farmer was living elsewhere in Ajo. Their daughter Dorothy grew up in Ajo leaving high school to marry William Puffer. Genevieve and Willie each remarried. Genevieve moved to Glendale, Arizona by 1960. Her husband was Joseph H. Whitecrow. Genevieve contracted hepatitis and fell into a coma. She died on December 23, 1963 at the Northwest Hospital in Glendale. Genevieve Malone Farmer Whitecrow was laid to rest at the Glendale Memorial Cemetery. Jimmie was survived by her husband and daughter.
