SHREVEPORT, LA - A.J. Spears joined his many friends and family in Heaven on September 10, 2016. Services celebrating his life will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Rev. Daniel Nelson will be officiating. Interment will be held at the NWLA Veterans Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born October 28, 1926 to William P. Spears and Bertie Williams Spears in Hornbeck, Louisiana.

Preceding AJ in death were his parents, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Miami Bridges Spears; daughters, Karen Spears McCall and husband Johnny and Sandra Spears O'Farrill and husband Rick; grandchildren, Krystal Lenee McCall, Katie Dianne McCall and Brandon Pouncy; great-grandchildren, Kailiah, Kinsley, Bray, and Adley; his sister, Maxine Spears Byrd.

The family would like to send a special Thank-you to Dr. Russell Tynes and Dr. Fredrick J. White for all the love and care throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that all memorials be made to The Grace Home, Christus Schumpert Foundation, One Saint Mary Place, Shreveport, LA 71101.
