Funeral services for Wiley T. Horten, 82, Sylvester, were held Oct. 29 at Rocky Creek Primitive Baptist Church under direction of Banks Funeral Home, with burial in the Church Cemetery. The Rev. Lamar Shepard and the Rev. W.H. Adams officiated.
Death came October 26 in Northwest Regional Hospital, Rome, after a lengthy illness.
Son of the late Thomas Horten, he was born May 31 1893 in Irwin County but had lived in Worth the last 75 years, where he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Rocky Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, L.E.Horten of Sylvester; three daughters, Mesdames May D. DeBerry of Jacksonville, Fla., and Minnie Jones and Lois Barfield both of Sylvester; a brother, Dan Horten of Plant City, Fla., a brother-in-law, J.E.Morse of Doerun; 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
