Mrs. Martha Jo Ruff Elberton, wife of 61 years to Arnold W. Haynes, entered into rest on Monday, September 12, 2016, at her residence. Mrs. Haynes was born in Elbert County on January 31, 1924, daughter of the late William Robert and Zada Mae Fortson Ruff. She was retired from Elberton Manufacturing Company and a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church. She loved to sew and work in her garden. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Arnold; three sons: Nathan Haynes and his wife Aleda, Billy Haynes, and Jeff Haynes and his wife Lisa, all of Elberton; eight grandchildren: Joseph, Tiffany, Tyler, Cheyenne, Victoria, Kenya, Jeffrey, and Parker; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, September 15, at 11 o'clock in Falling Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Dwight Morgan and Jack McVeigh officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Haynes will lie in state for one hour prior to the service at the church. The family is at the residence of Nathan and Aleda Hynes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00p.m. on Wednesday evening.
