Lafayette - Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 11 am at St. James Baptist Church for Gabriel Williams, Sr. 65, who passed away Thursday, September 20, 207 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Gabriel was employed by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for 20 years, and was also owner of G & M Cakes. Gabriel loved the outdoors, especially cooking and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered, missed and loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Dean Williams of Lafayette. Four daughters, Hazel Williams, Clarissa Williams Boutte (Gerald Boutte, Jr.), Sylvia Miller of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Esther Simpson of Dallas, Tx. Three sons, Gabriel Williams, Jr. (Sonya), Jermain Williams, and Craig Rogers of Virginia Beach. Two brothers, Lester Williams, Sr. (Sandy), Henry Williams, Jr. (Denise). Five sisters, Mary Jane Williams, Christine Williams Flugence (Wilbert Flugence), Marion Williams, and Mary Lou Williams. Also survived by 19 grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his prents, Henry and Lorena Williams. Wife, Gustavia Batiste Williams. Sister, Lizza Williams Broussard. Nephew, Daniel “Smokey” George. One great grandchild, Kasha Felix.
