Physical Chemist. He is considered by many to be the founder of physical chemistry. Born in Uppsala, Sweden, he was self-educated and became an arithmetical prodigy as a young boy. He specialized on the conductivity of electrolytes which would earn him a Noble Prize in Chemistry for 1903, the first Swedish citizen to do so. The Arrenhius equation and the lunar crater Arrenhius is named after him.
