Captain Netherlands Merchant Navy. He was rescued by USS Mayo after his ship the Motor Tanker Ocana was torpedoed in the Atlantic Ocean (42.36°N/65.30°W) by U-552 when sailing from Curacao to Halifax, Canada. However, he died aboard the USS Mayo shortly after rescue. Husband of Cornelia Esther Stuart.

Buried in the Anglican Cemetery St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
